Registered 9yr old purebred Haflinger gelding by Amberg
Astral is 14.0hh but extremely strong in build and would be suitable for any rider up to 100kg.
This beautiful pony is as fun to ride as he is to look at! He has had good basic schooling so has a nice mouth and moves well off the leg though not extensively arena schooled. Astral loves to hack out on the station, boldly taking on river crossings, steep hills and stock, he would be great out trekking or on the hunt field for a rider who wants the feel of a big horse but closer to the ground!
Astral is not a huge moving pony but has a lovely, active trot and a great walk. He can be hard to get into canter when on the arena (though he is improving all the time) but not so out on the farm.
This guy has not done much formal jump schooling but is learning with us, he is happy to pop over small logs and showjumps and I feel he could make a fab wee jumper with some more schooling.
Astral is a really fun, charismatic pony. Ideal for a confident child to grow with in all disciplines or for an adult rider to pleasure ride or compete at the lower levels. He is BIG for his size so not suitable for a first pony or timid rider.
Astral is very good on the ground, friendly and easy to catch, float etc. He was hot shod in front for the first time here and was perfect.
This gorgeous pony really is a find, not only a rare breed in NZ but a fun wee chap with a lot to offer the right rider too.
