Tough, clever & sound foals

When Jackie started up the stud more than 30 years ago she looked first to the NZ stationbred, tough, clever and sound, these types of horses bred informally at large working stations such as  Ihungia, Ruatoria and Ngahiwi had traits she wished to reproduce in her own progeny.

These three cheeky buggers, Weiti Salami (2yr old W Handy Andy/Claudia gelding) Weiti Harvest Moon (W Kingswood/W Wednesday yearling gelding) and Weiti Gravity (W Kingswood/W Starlet yearling gelding). All very nosy and very cute.

These hill bred horses when looked at from a sporting perspective often lacked quality and athleticism, this was initially added by way of good NZTB lines such as Superstud and Abba’s Lad. Jackie’s longstanding interest in colored horses saw her begin to breed in skewbald and roan as well.

Don’t forget about us!! Four of our yearlings from 2016. Left to Right…. Weiti Vichysoise (colt by Weiti Handy Andy/Gisborne bred mare, Robin) our cremello filly Weiti Toffee Apple (Smokey/ Weiti Starlet) Weiti Salami (colt by Handy Andy/Claudia) and Weiti Zest (roan filly, full sister to new filly Eclipse).

Showjumpers

More recently we have begun to focus mainly on Showjumpers as that is the sport we compete in, as the sport becomes increasingly competitive both here and abroard we have started to introduce some of the great modern Holsteiner sires such as Indoctro VDL and Corland VDL to add further scope and trainability to our young stock whilst maintaining the steady intelligence and character of our well known Weiti horses.

What we are getting now is youngsters possessing the natural ability of a modern Warmblood with a little bit of extra brain and longevity. We are proud of the young jumpers we have been producing so far and can’t wait to see some of our newer generations in the competition arena in the future!
